Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (formerly known as the American Short Shorts Film Festival) was established in Harajuku, Tokyo in 1999, with an aim to introduce Japanese audiences to the world of short films. The Festival organizes national tours around Japan, gathering more than 150,000 people in the audience. In addition to these national tours, the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF) is also being shown in LA, Singapore and Myanmar and, Mexico, establishing itself as a unique, Japanese-born film festival showcased worldwide.

The Short Shorts Film Festival strives not only to introduce the cutting edge short films of today, but also to highlight the evolution of this genre through special programs. It also aims at establishing a network of filmmakers and film industry related professionals.
