One of the charms of Japanese feature-length animation is the depth of creative talent who continually deliver distinctive works imbued with unique directorial vision, supported by outstanding animation studios.
Experience presentations of works-in-progress including the highly anticipated US-Japan co-developed project Sunny (based on Taiyō Matsumoto's manga), and learn about a maestro’s sources of creative inspiration and a young director’s journey to completing his Annecy-selected feature-film debut.

Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunka-cho) supports international
film co-productions to promote cultural exchange through cinema,
and contribute to the development of Japanese film.

OUTLINE OF CO-PRODUCTION SUBSIDY SYSTEM

Selective Subsidy Amount: Up to one-fifth of qualifying expenditures to a maximum of 50 million yen per film for films of over 100 million yen and a maximum of 100 million yen per film for films of over 300 million yen.

Born in 1990.Active as an illustrator and animator since his time at Tama Art University.After joining P.I.C.S., he worked as an animator and assistant director on commercials and music videos.
In 2021, he made his directorial debut and handled character design for the TV anime ODDTAXI, which gained significant attention.The Last Blossom marks his first foray into directing a feature-length film.Currently affiliated with P.I.C.S. Management.

Producer & Director's Manager

A member of P.I.C.S. She joined P.I.C.S. after working at an animation studio, a PR agency, and a film distributor. She produces works of multiple genres, including live action and anime. Taking advantage of P.I.C.S.’s strength, she develops original projects and participates in many successful productions as a producer.She participated in developing and producing ODDTAXI, and others.

Director

Born in 1980. As a Japanese-style painter, he is engaged in a wide variety of creative activities, including painting, sculpture and moving image works. He has been in charge of art and special scene direction for live-action and animated films such as “Your Name." (dir. Makoto Shinkai / reminiscence scene direction) and "In This Corner of the World" (dir. Sunao Katabuchi / special scene direction).
While working in various media such as book design, advertising, and commercials, he is also active as a Japanese-style painter in a wide range of fields, including painting, sculpture and moving image works.

Director

As a director and animation director, he has breathed life into many of Japan's most iconic characters for more than 20 years.

He is the director of the feature-length animated film "GAMBA,” and has extensive knowledge of 3D animation techniques and state-of-the-art computer graphics technology.

Member of the animation studio "Shirogumi," which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023.
